2017 International Celebration of the Buddha’s Birthday Cultural Festival in Taipei, Taiwan...

New Taipei City Buddhist Association and Chinese Young Buddhist Association (CYBA) held 2017 International Celebration of the Buddha’s Birthday Cultural Festival series of grand celebrations of the Buddha’s Birthday in Tucheng Ci Fa Chan Temple, No. 21, Lane23, Xuefu Road Section 1, Tucheng District, New Taipei City, Taiwan.

The Buddha’s Birthday Cultural Festival series held under the leadership and direct involvement of the Most Venerable Ching Yao Thero, the President, New Taipei City Buddhist Association and Most Venerable Dr. Bhiksuni Ming Yu, the President - Chinese Young Buddhist Association in Taiwan & the Honorary Adviser of the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) and Chinese Young Buddhist Association (CYBA).

CYBA was arranged on that grand occasion on May 06, 2017 International Celebration of the Buddha’s Birthday Forum. The theme of this forum was “Buddha in the human world —Gratitude and Peace”. That mentioned through the gathering of distinguished local and foreign Buddhist leaders and elites, this forum explore ways to unite Buddhists and Buddhist organizations from different countries, different traditions and different sects, together we can promote the celebration of Buddha’s Birthday to the whole world, in doing so more people can come to know and practice Buddha’s teaching and Buddha’s teaching will be spread around the world.

More than 50 representatives from 10 nations and regions around the world attended the 2017 International Celebration of the Buddha’s Birthday Cultural Festival series in New Taipei, Taiwan. The opening ceremony was held at took place on May 06, 2017 in grand level and address the occasion, Ven Xin Mao, the Vice President of Taiwan’s Buddhist Association of the Republic of China (BAROC and Officials from New Taipei City Government.

Then held the keynote address followed “Advocate the respect for one’s teacher, remembrance of the great kindness of Buddha as our guiding teacher” by Prof. Bi Fu Jing, Former Principal of National Taipei University. The Speakers on the occasion Ven Ching Yao, President of New Taipei City Buddhist Association and Ven Huimin, Dean of Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts.

After the keynote address started the showing International Celebration of the Buddha’s Birthday Film of Taiwan, South Korea, Myanmar, Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Thailand. The Film series was sharing excellent experience with all of delegates which kind of the way of celebrates Buddha’s Birthday annually in own countries.

Then held the discussion of “Advocate filial piety, remembrance of the immense kindness of our parents in the caring and educating us” by under the head of panel Ven Shiou, the Secretary General of Taiwan’s BAROC and other Speakers are Ven Li Shan, Abbess of Quanzhou Nan Tian Chan Monastery, Dr. Steven Su-Wei Huang, President of Chinese Humanistic Buddhism Confederation, Dr Ong See Yew, President of Malaysia Melaka Buddhist Lodge.

After the lunch break held the second session of discussion followed “Bolster racial and religious harmony: through mutual respect and inclusive mentality, and foster friendship to bolster the harmony amongst people with different nationalities / races and different religions” by Ven Ming Kuang, Vice President of Taiwan’s BAROC with other speakers of Most Venerable Dr. Bhiksuni Ming Yu, the President - Chinese Young Buddhist Association in Taiwan & the Honorary Adviser of the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) and Chinese Young Buddhist Association (CYBA) Ven Jue Xing, the Abbot of Shanghai Buddhist Association and President of Shanghai Yu Fo Temple, Dr. Pornchai Pinyapong, the President World Alliance of Buddhist Leaders (WABL).

Then started the third discussion of “Promote World Peace: through the widespread of the practice of Buddha’s wisdom and compassion as well as bolster love and non-violence in our daily life” by Ven Ching Yao, the President of New Taipei City Buddhist Association with speakers of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa - video conference, Ven Zhao-Chu, the President of Los Angeles Buddhist Confederation, Ven Hui Chuan, the Chief Officer Fo Guan Shan Monastery, Central Management Office, He, Re-Sheng, Assistant Professor of Tzu Chi University.

In the evening session started of the panel discussion with Susan Yeh, the Director of Da Ai TV and other Panelists of VIPs. On the address of Most Venerable Dr. Bhiksuni Ming Yu, the President - Chinese Young Buddhist Association in Taiwan & the Honorary Adviser of the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY) and Chinese Young Buddhist Association (CYBA) mentioned the valuable points above Buddha’s Birthday Cultural Festival.

Most Venerable Dr. Bhiksuni Ming Yu said that the International Buddhist Council was hosted by the Chinese Buddhist Youth Association, looking forward to by way of discussion, so that domestic and foreign Buddhist leaders gathered together, combined with the strength of international Buddhist groups, the Buddha will be extended to the world, let The teachings of the Buddha are all over the world!

End of the Forum, all the guests under the leadership of the Ching Yao Master, read out the 2017 International Buddhist Birthday Forum Declaration that includes… “We are grateful that 2,500 years ago, Prince Siddhārtha was born on Earth and became fully enlightened as Buddha. All of us are followers of Shakyamuni Buddha’s Teachings. We will make full use of International Buddha Day Forum (IBDF). This Forum is one of the series of New Taipei Buddha Day Festival.

During this Forum we will in accordance with Buddha’s teachings discuss the following topics of “Respect teacher and value one’s path, grateful for Buddha’s kindness”, Advocate the respect for one’s teacher and value one’s path, grateful for the kindness of Buddha as our guiding teacher. “Filial piety is foundation of all virtues, grateful for parents’ kindness”, Advocate filial piety, grateful for the immense kindness of our parents. “Crossing all boundaries to create racial and religious fusion”, mutual respect and understanding enable communities of different racial and religious living harmoniously. “Dual application of wisdom and compassion to create World Peace”, through implementation of Buddha’s wisdom and compassion and working together we can create world peace.

Today is the gathering of local and international Buddhist elites and leaders and also Buddhist organizations. Together we will globalize Buddha Day Festival so that people around the world can know Buddha and personal touch by the teachings of Buddha. We learn and practice four networking and six perfections, eight noble path, ten virtuous karma. We widely spread the seed of Bodhi / Awakening with the deep belief that these seeds will grow into flowers and bear fruits. Let Buddha’s teaching spread around the globe to purify the minds of people, pacify all conflicts, and harmonize the relationship between oneself and communities, thus benefiting all sentient beings!

Taiwan's first international Buddhist calendar forum, in the evening ended successfully. This event was explored the great message to the world.
